Tips for Ramadan | 2019

Before I begin talking, I just want to let you guys know that I’m so happy to be able to post on my blog again! A month ago, I attempted something, but it backfired, and my poor blog had to bear the consequences. However, with the help of WordPress support team, I was able to get my blog back and finally post again! I can’t thank them enough. They really helped me so much. I wish I could treat them to a cake or something haha. You guys missed me, didn’t you? I missed you guys too!

Anyway, now that I’m back in business, I’m gonna rock this platform again just like I used to! I kind of lack monetizing my blog… (just waiting for the money…) but once I have the cash in hand, I will kickstart my blog and I promise you that I will write even more interesting and amazing content. I want to share as much of my thoughts, knowledge and emotions with you as much as I can. I hope you guys will stay with me till the end and give me all your love and support because I need it badly.

Okay, so Ramadan has started and just like last year and the year before that, I posted ‘Ramadan Tips’. This year too, I decided to give you all a few beneficial tips that will help you make your Ramadan better and more rewarding and in control. Though this year might be tough for some people since the days are long and the nights are short. There’s a lot of time for Iftaar but only a couple of hours for Sehri. For those newbies who have just promised to fast this Ramadan, I hope the tips I give you will benefit you and I hope I get my reward from my Lord for helping you. Even if one of you read this, I’ll get my reward. So thank you for reading this and if you share this post, then you’ll certainly get your reward too! Isn’t that amazing? Why don’t you start your Ramadan by sharing this post with your friends and family? I know it’s not much, but it’s a start, isn’t it?

The first and foremost thing you must do is thank Allah, the Most High for giving you this month to repent and to change yourselves for the better. He kept you alive, He provided you but most of all, He gave you deen. He guided you to the right path and He promised you a place that will never perish (Paradise). Secondly, make your intention crystal clear and don’t go back on your word. Don’t let your inner desires stray you away from the right path or from the remembrance of Allah (Subhana-wa-Ta’ala). Once you’ve decided to change yourself, then you can’t and mustn’t turn back. Fight with yourself, know that you’re completely control of your decisions and put your trust in the Most Merciful. Make du’a to Allah to keep you, your family and the believers guided aright and make du’a to Allah to keep you firm in your faith.

Now that you’ve done those two things, it’s time to implement acts that will please our Lord, The Most Loving. Do you know what types of worship Allah loves? Not sure? Let me tell you:

  • Allah loves those who repent.
  • Allah loves those who read Quran, understand it and teach it.
  • Allah loves those who give in Charity.
  • Allah loves those who fast for his sake only.
  • Allah loves those who ask Him for help (even if it’s a pair of new jeans)
  • Allah loves those with good manners and behaviors.

Did you see? Allah loves the little things which we so deliberately forget. But, this Ramadan, let’s carry out these things and please our Lord. Let’s earn those rewards so that we won’t have any regrets on the Day of Resurrection when we see the scale of our deeds. Don’t we all want our good deeds to be heavy and our bad deeds to be as light as a feather?

For some of you who are well used to fasting, I’m pretty sure you will not read this post but for those who are looking for some tips that will ease their mind and shun the negative thoughts, then you’re in the right place! Here are a few tips that will help you, your family and your friends this Ramadan.

  • Have a Healthy Sehri
    Sehri will be your breakfast, which means you must start your fast by eating a full and nutritious meal. Don’t forget to have your glass of milk, coffee or protein shake and eat a lot of eggs as they tend to keep you full and feeling energetic for a longer period.
  • Get Enough Sleep –
    Ramadan is a time where we put out beloved technologies aside and turn to our Lord. We pray and read Quran all night and that kind of change will take some time for our body to adjust. Also, the best part about this Ramadan is that it’s vacation time! This is also the best time to teach your kids about Islam and gradually get them to start fasting as well. Be sure to get your 6-7 hours of sleep after Fajr and wake up feeling refreshed and ever ready to prepare for your Iftaar.
  • Make Lots of Du’a –
    Ramadan isn’t just about fasting. It’s about hoping and trusting in Allah’s plan, it’s about praying for the right things, rewriting your destiny because Allah never ignores the prayers of a fasting person. This is your chance to ask for anything and everything (but it should be Halal, okay?) This is your time to pray and pray and pray for things you never knew you needed. You can also make a list of du’as so that you can pray smoothly without having to overthink or forget what you wanted to pray for.
  • Read Quran –Quran was revealed to our Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) on this month which is the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar. That’s why we are obliged to read the Quran as much as possible during this month. Quran is the Speech of Allah and it brings us closer to Him and makes us more beloved to Him so what more could you ask for? If you wish to complete the Quran this month, I suggest that you read 4 pages after every Salat.
    • Fajr – 4
    • Zuhur – 4
    • Asr – 4
    • Maghrib – 4
    • Isha – 4
    • And if you’re awake in the night, then you can read 2 or 4 extra pages. (Though it really depends on the type of Quran you’re reading. If it’s a Quran with a big font, you might have to read a few extra pages to reach your goal).
      This way, you can complete reading the entire Quran within 30 days.
  • But, do not force yourself and do not stress your mind because no matter if you complete reading the Quran or couldn’t before Ramadan ends, either way, Allah Azzawajal will reward you and will be pleased with you. It’s not obligatory to finish the Quran but to read it continually, to understand it, to act upon it and to preach it to others.
  •  Watch Islamic Videos and Listen to Lectures –
    This is a great way and time to attain more beneficial knowledge. There are so many amazing scholars out there that will help you understand the Quran and deen easily. Youtube is filled with such respectful             scholars so instead of talking or playing games, watching such impactful videos will revive your soul and mind.
  • Iftaar isn’t a party –
    Many of us start cooking feasts as the time for Iftaar draws near. However, that is not right. Sure, you can look forward to Iftaar but gobbling up dozens of cutlets in one go isn’t healthy. Try to eat healthy food in small portions and limit the intake of sweets and juices directly. Eat slowly and mindfully and eat only until you feel that you’re full. Do not eat just because there’s a lot of food on the table and you gotta finish it before the prayer starts. Make sure to eat 2-3 dates as it’s a Sunnah to break the fast with dates. I love the feeling of eating dates after a long and peaceful day.It makes me really happy and It’s a feeling only the true believers will experience.

Dha’habaz-Zam-Ahu-Wa-batal-Lati-Ooruqu-Wa-Saa-Batal-Ajooru-In-Sha-Allah

  • Read Taraweeh/Tahajjud –
    You can either pray Taraweeh or pray Tahajjud if you want to stay up all night and Glorify the Praises of Your Lord and Talk to Him. But I suggest that you pray Taraweeh and then when the last ten days of Lailatul Qadr nights arrive, you can then pray Tahajjud. It’s up to you, whatever you find easy. Before you begin praying Taraweeh, eat a fruit or drink milk so that you won’t have to worry about your stomach growling in the middle of your prayer. You can also eat a dried fruits and nuts as they are high in protein and will keep your mind active.
  • Give Charity –The more charity you do, the more Allah will Bless you. It’s as simple as that. Allah is Ar-Razzaq, the Provider, so don’t worry about the money and just Zakat without thinking. Allah will give you more than you gave others. Don’t ever stop giving in charity. Even in Ramadan and after Ramadan. Even if you smile at your family members or your friends, your neighbor or to an old man, it’s a form of charity which Allah will take into account. 
  • Give Food to the Orphans, the Needy, and the Poor –There are so many people and children out there who are fasting, but they don’t have the means to break their fast. Help them and know that Allah is watching. Help them and earn greater rewards. Help them with a good intention and know that Allah will wipe your sins away. Trust me, you’ll feel much better and you’ll feel your soul cleansing and becoming pious each day.
  • Workout –Working out for just 10-15 minutes after your Taraweeh will keep you active throughout the night and will keep you feeling sound throughout the day. You can skip the workouts if you want and just eat healthily but even a 5-minute workout can and will do good to your body. Plus, you won’t feel guilty about eating an entire slice of pie.
  • Forget about your Phone –
    I think this point is very important for kids and adults of this generation as phones have become our constant companion. They act as though they literally can’t live without them. That all they need is phone instead of Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide. Nevertheless, take this month as an advantage, seize the phones and place them where no one can find or even guess. I’m just kidding though because we obviously need phone to communicate but avoid using your phone too much and concentrate more on Quran and Dikhr.
  • Drink Lots of Water –
    Lastly, after you break your fast, increase your water intake because although you will feel active, your body won’t be able to do function properly unless you give it the missing oxygen that it needs. Also drinking a lot of water will prevent dizziness, nauseous, headaches and cravings.

I really hope these tips will benefit you this Ramadan In Sha Allah, and May Allah forgive you your sins, your mistakes, your shortcomings. May He, the Most Merciful, admit you into Paradise and save you from the Hell-Fire and May Allah accept your prayers, du’as, fasting and answer your invocations.
